2001 Lindemans Bin 50 Shiraz
The Lindemans Bin Series wines are made with the modern lifestyle in mind, produced in an easy-drinking, contemporary style that offers wine lovers outstanding quality, substance and consistency at an everyday price. The generous flavours of these wines combine easily with food and most social occasions delivering maximum enjoyment from the first glass to the last.
The 2001 Lindemans Bin 50 Shiraz is a multi-region blend, with premium fruit sourced from a range of wine growing regions. Lindemans utilises the diverse topography and climate of Australia's wine regions to produce complex wines that are of consistently outstanding quality regardless of varying vintage conditions.
Vineyard Regions: A multi-region blend, with significant proportions from the Riverland, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley, Padthaway and McLaren Vale.
Vintage Conditions: A beautiful spring led to flourishing growth and a warmer than average summer throughout South Australia. Shiraz responded well to the climatic conditions providing particularly ripe, expressive flavours. This was combined with the elegance of premium fruit from cooler regions, resulting in a balanced, flavour-driven wine.
Grape Variety: Shiraz
Maturation: Twenty-five per cent of the blend was matured for six months in a combination of French and American oak.
Winemaker Comments:
Colour: Vibrant purple-crimson with excellent clarity and depth of colour.
Nose: A bright, expressive aroma of cherry and summer pudding is overlaid by hints of dusty spice and framed by subtle vanillin oak characters.
Palate: An extremely approachable, fruit driven palate with ripe plum and sweet dark cherry alongside elements of cinnamon and spice. Careful oak treatment adds structure without overly imparting flavour and combines with fine-grained tannins for a well rounded, lingering finish.
Serving and Cellaring Suggestions: Ideally consumed when young and fresh the 2001 Bin 50 is perfectly suited to barbecue spare ribs and pasta bolognaise.
